Feed water characterisation for water system

Identification of water source in water system design plays important role. It provide basic idea about characteristics of water

Source of water as below

  • Public / Private/ municipal corporation Supply
  • Well / Bore well /Ground water
  • Lake / river / Surface Water
  • Tanker deliveries

Public / Private/ municipal corporation Supply generally derived from surface water , tanker water can be ground water or surface water.

Surface Waters

  • Often temperature variation observed
  • Microorganisms present at very high level
  • Significant Organic material
  • High suspended solids, turbidity, and high colloidal material
  • TDS is lower than ground water supply

Ground Waters

  • Temperature generally constant
  • Often minimum chemical changes
  • Often high silica and calcium levels
  • Fe & Me may be present
  • Organic concentration generally low
  • Colloidal Material minimal
  • Microorganisms generally low

Why feed water analysis is required ?

Feed water analysis is required

  • To comply with testing to drinking water standrds
  • To establish baseline levels of treatment scheme
  • To select proper treatment processes

Feed water analysis can be done in lab & on site with test kits
