Calculation of Ozone Generator Capacity

Following are the calculations for the Ozone Generator capacity

Given That,

  1. Required Ozone concentration to be maintained in the Ozonation tank: 0.1 ppm
  2. Tank incoming flow rate: 6 m3/hr
  3. Assume Solubility of ozone: 20%

Calculate ozone capacity required

Following are the steps for selection of Ozone Generator

Water to be treated with Ozone per hour = 6 m3 / hr……………………………………..(1)

Ozone required to maintain 0.1 ppm concentration

= Ozone Dosage X Flow Rate

= 0.1 X 6

=0.6 Gram ……………………………………………………………………………………………………(2)

But solubility of ozone is 20 %

So total Ozone required to maintain 0.1 ppm in tank is

= (0.6 X 100)/20

=3 Gram

3 Gram Ozone required to maintain 0.1 ppm Ozonation in tank ……………………………(3)

Calculation of Ozone requirement for Ozonation
Ozone concentration to be maintained in tank 0.10ppm
Water to be treated with ozone 6.00m3/hr
Amount of ozone reqd for maintaining minimum concentration in tank=0.06gram
Assuming only 20% of ozone is utiltized for residualozone as half life is only 15 mins, total ozone reqd=3.00gram
Total Ozozne required=3.00gms/hr
Ozone generator capacity selected=6.00gms/hr
